The most advanced OR designed to ensure the rapid
implementation of novel image-guided technologies for the benefit of patients.

 The GTx Surgery Program is part of the Guided Therapeutics Program, Techna Institute, the University Health Network (UHN).
Through the GTx Operating Room (OR), located within the Toronto General Hospital at UHN and the GTx Lab, located within the Toronto Medical Discovery Tower, research is generated and applied to innovative imaged-guided clinical solutions.

GTx OR

  • Located within the existing Toronto General Hospital surgical hub for cost-effective support/integration
  • Equipped with image-based surgical navigation technologies (x-ray and optical navigation; visualization)
  • The first facility in the world that houses both a dual energy Siemens Definition FLASH CT scanner and a state-of-the-art robotic C-arm, the Siemens Artis Zeego

GTx Lab

  • A dedicated space and equipment for development, testing, pre-clinical evaluation of image guided technologies (computing, imaging, contrast agents, molecular imaging)
  • Contains a pre-clinical GTx OR with a Cone Beam CT for large animal pre-clinical evaluation studies, as well as a pre-clinical 1.5T MRI (coming Spring 2016)
